IRS Finalizes 2023 Form 940, Instructions, Schedule A

Final versions of the 2023 federal unemployment tax return, its instructions, and one of its schedules were released Dec. 5 by the Internal Revenue Service.

The final Form 940, Employer’s Annual Federal Unemployment (FUTA) Tax Return, did not contain changes from its draft. Schedule A, Multi-State Employer and Credit Reduction Information, lists California, New York, and the US Virgin Islands as jurisdictions with credit reductions. California and New York have credit reductions of 0.6% and the US Virgin Islands has a credit reduction of 3.9%.
