Finalized instructions for the 2021 federal forms in the 1099 series reporting miscellaneous income and nonemployee compensation were released on Dec. 29 by the Internal Revenue Service.
The 2021 version of the instructions did not change from its earlier Sept. 30 draft version.
Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC and their instructions will no longer be annually revised, according to the instructions. Instead, the documents have been converted to continuous use and will be updated as needed.
