A draft of the 2021 Publication 15-T, Federal Income Tax Withholding Methods, was released Nov. 17 by the Internal Revenue Service.
The publication contains federal percentage and wage-bracket withholding methods for use with Forms W-4, Employee’s Withholding Certificate, in 2020 and later, as well as Forms W-4 from 2019 and earlier. The 66-page publication offers five withholding worksheets and corresponding tables.
The IRS online tool, Income Withholding Assistant for Employers, also may be used to calculate federal income tax withholding. Employers with automated payroll systems do not need to use the online tool, the agency said.
