Drafts of the 2024 Form W-4 and its variants for pensions and annuities were released by the Internal Revenue Service.
The drafts of Form W-4, Employee’s Withholding Certificate, and Form W-4P, Withholding Certificate for Periodic Pension or Annuity Payments, were released Sept. 29 and notably restore references to the IRS’s Tax Withholding Estimator that were removed from the 2023 forms.
The IRS released a draft Form W-4R, Withholding Certificate for Nonperiodic Payments and Eligible Rollover Distributions, on Sept. 25. All three drafts have placeholder values, such as the federal income tax brackets, to be filled in later. ...
