A draft of the 2026 form for reporting US-sourced income paid to nonresidents was released Sept. 16 by the Internal Revenue Service.
The draft 2026 Form 1042-S, Foreign Person’s US Source Income Subject to Withholding, renumbers some of the form’s boxes. The previous boxes 12i, 13d, and 15i, each labeled “City or town, state or province, country, ZIP or foreign postal code,” were expanded into multiple boxes each for reporting addresses of withholding agents, recipients, and intermediaries or flow-through entities, respectively.
The newly expanded groups of boxes are numbered 12i to 12m, 13d to 13h, and 15i to 15m. ...
