The 2023 draft general instructions for Forms 1099 and other information returns were released Nov. 21 by the Internal Revenue Service.
The draft 2023 General Instructions for Certain Information Returns include information on the new Information Reporting Intake System (IRIS), which is to open for preparing, filing, and distributing Forms 1099 Jan. 1, 2023.
Many of the forms included in the instructions have fillable versions provided on IRS.gov that can be used for copies given to recipients and kept in records, the instructions said.
