IRS Releases Draft of Updated Instructions for Form 5884-A

Draft instructions for the draft updated Form 5884-A, Employee Retention Credit for Employers Affected by Qualified Disasters, were released March 29 by the Internal Revenue Service.

The March 2020 version of the form was named Employee Retention Credit, but the 2021 draft’s updated name differentiates Form 5884-A from forms used to claim the employee retention credit available for relief related to the coronavirus pandemic. A draft of the updated Form 5884-A was released March 17 by the IRS.
