A draft update of the instructions for the form the Internal Revenue Service uses to make worker status determinations was released Oct. 16.
The draft instructions for Form SS-8, Determination of Worker Status for Purposes of Federal Employment Taxes and Income Tax Withholding, reorganizes much of the information using subheadings. A note was added to the start of the instructions: “If you do not want the information on your Form SS-8 disclosed to other parties, do not file Form SS-8.”
