The final version of the annual return reporting tax withheld from payments to US nonresidents was released Jan. 6 by the Internal Revenue Service.
The final 2022 Form 1042, Annual Withholding Tax Return for US Source Income of Foreign Persons, is used to report the number of Forms 1042-S, Foreign Person’s US Source Income Subject to Withholding, filed for the year along with the tax withheld from payments reported on those forms. The 2022 form must be filed by March 15, 2023.
The form did not contain changes from its draft version, released June 9.
