Japan’s 47 prefectures completed their 2024 minimum wage updates Nov. 1 when the final update took effect.
Prefectural hourly minimum wages range from 951 yen (US$6.22) in Akita Prefecture to 1,163 yen in Tokyo Prefecture, the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare’s list (Japanese) said. Minimum wages that were in effect from October 2023 to September 2024 ranged from 893 yen in Iwate Prefecture to 1,113 yen in Tokyo Prefecture.
Updates took effect Oct. 1 in 25 prefectures, and the remaining prefectures’ updates took effect in the following weeks until the final update, for Tokushima Prefecture, took effect Nov. 1. ...
