Every Japanese prefecture will have an hourly minimum wage over 800 yen (U.S. $7.21) for the first time beginning in October, according to a minimum wage chart (Japanese) released by the country’s Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare.
Most of the minimum wage increases for the 47 prefectures took effect Oct. 1, with the remaining 16 prefectures raising their hourly minimum wages within the first week of October.
