Los Angeles Creates Hotel Worker Pay, Recordkeeping Requirements

Los Angeles hotels will have to pay room attendants twice their regular rate of pay for increasing their cleaning workload, under an ordinance (Ordinance 187565) that will go into effect Aug. 12.

Hotels with 45 to 59 guest rooms must pay room attendants twice their regular rate of pay for an entire eight-hour workday if they clean more than 4,000 square feet of guest rooms during the workday, according to the ordinance.
