Louisiana Extends Separation Notice Deadline for Employers

Louisiana is extending the deadline for employers to complete separation notices to 10 days from three, under a bill effective Aug. 1.

The 10-day period begins on the date that an employee is separated from service with the employer, under SB 248.

The bill updates the law to require that separation notices be provided electronically to the state instead of by mail or other delivery. The Louisiana Workforce Commission has an online separation notice for employers to complete on its website.
