The hourly minimum wage in Portland, Maine, will rise to $14 for nonservice employees and to $7 for service employees effective Jan. 1, 2023, according to an update on the city’s minimum wage webpage.
The city updated its minimum wage notice to reflect the wage increases. The notice is available in English and Spanish.
Effective Jan. 1, 2023, employees must customarily and regularly receive at least $175 a month in tips to be considered a service employee under state law. The minimum amount of monthly tips to be considered a service employee in 2022 is $100.
