Effective Jan. 1, 2019, Maine’s unemployment tax rates for experienced employers are to range from 0.06 percent to 4.16 percent for positive-rated employers and from 4.16 percent to 5.46 percent for negative-rated employers, the state labor department said on its website Oct. 26.
A rate of 4.16 percent is to be applicable for employers assigned to Rate Group 19, the only one of Maine’s 20 tax rate groups to have a mix of positive-rated and negative-rated experienced employers for 2019.
The unemployment tax rate for new employers is to be 1.89 percent for 2019, up from 1.86 percent for 2018. ...
