Marriott’s Wage Woes After Kronos Hack Deepen in New Worker Suit

Marriott International Inc. failed to properly pay overtime and minimum wages after a cyberattack took third-party timekeeping system Kronos offline last year, another worker alleges.

The hotel chain used Ultimate Kronos Group’s timekeeping service to track work time but “estimated” hours when a December 2021 hack temporarily sidelined the program. Marriott could have “easily implemented” a temporary system to ensure accurate records and prompt payment during the Kronos outage, but instead, it “pushed the cost” of the hack onto its hourly workers, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.
