Maryland announced its 2023 unemployment insurance tax rates in a Jan. 24 update on the state labor department’s website.
Tax rates for experienced employers continue to be determined using tax rate Schedule C and range from 1% to 10.5%, according to the state’s 2023 tax rate table. The tax rate for new employers is 2.3%, unchanged from 2022.
Maryland has a separate tax rate that applies to new construction employers headquartered in another state. The tax rate for these employers in 2023 is 5.1%, down from 5.4% in 2022.
