Maryland Releases 2019 Unemployment Tax Rates, Wage Base

Effective Jan. 1, 2019, Maryland’s unemployment-taxable wage base is to be $8,500, unchanged from 2018, the state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation said Oct. 31 on its website.

For 2019, unchanged from 2018, unemployment tax rates for experienced employers are to be determined with Table A and range from 0.3 percent to 7.5 percent.

The standard tax rate for new employers is to be 2.6 percent in 2019, unchanged from 2018. The 2019 tax rate for new construction employers with headquarters in another state is to be 4.8 percent, down from 5.4 percent for 2018.
