Maryland’s unemployment insurance tax rates will continue to be determined using Tax Table A, according to an update on the Labor Department’s website.
Tax Table A has experienced employer rates ranging from 0.3% to 7.5%, according to the contribution rate table. The standard tax rate, which applies to employers with no taxable wages in a fiscal year because they failed to file quarterly reports, is 7.5%.
The tax rate for all new employers, including foreign contractors, is 2.6%, according to the update.
Maryland’s unemployment-taxable wage base is $8,500, under state law.
