Massachusetts Announces Unemployment Insurance Tax Rates for 2023

Massachusetts released its 2023 unemployment insurance tax rates on the state unemployment assistance department website on Dec. 29.

The unemployment insurance tax rates for positive-rated experienced employers in 2023 are determined using Schedule A and range from 0.56% to 3.14%. The tax rates for negative-rated experienced employers in 2023 range from 4.22% to 8.62%.

Experienced employers also pay a Covid-19 Recovery Assessment rate. For 2023, the rates range from 0.708% to 3.969% for positive-rated employers and from 5.334% to 10.896% for negative-rated employers.
