Missouri Releases 2026 New Employer Unemployment Rate, Wage Base

Missouri released its 2026 unemployment-taxable wage base and new employer tax rates on the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations website.

The unemployment insurance tax rate for new employers in 2026 is 1% for nonprofit organizations and 2.376% for all other new employers, according to the website. These rates have been in effect since 2024.

The tax rate for experienced employers ranges from zero to 6%, not including a maximum rate surcharge or contribution rate adjustment, according to the website. A maximum rate surcharge increases rates for employers assigned the maximum experience rate for at least two consecutive years, ...
