Montana Updates Withholding Methods to Incorporate 2024 Changes

Montana’s withholding guide was updated as a number of changes to the state income tax take effect Jan. 1, 2024, including a reduction to three tax brackets, the state revenue department said Nov. 16.

The new guide uses a percentage method with tax brackets of zero, 4.7%, and 5.9%, instead of four tax brackets with rates ranging from 1.8% to 6.6%.
