Morocco Raises Minimum Wages as Inflation Hits Record

The cabinet has signed into law a 6% rise in the public sector minimum wage and a 5% rise for workers in the private industries and services sector, government spokesman Mustapha Baitas tells reporters in Rabat.

  • Increase goes into effect this month
  • NOTE: Consumer inflation hit an annual 7.7% in July, its highest on record
  • Measures also include a 10% rise in minimum wage for agricultural sector employees
