Namibia’s first hourly minimum wage applicable to all private-sector employers takes effect Jan. 1, 2025, according to a wage order published in its gazette on Aug. 7.
The order sets the national minimum wage at N$18 (US$1) per hour, an amount that does not immediately apply to domestic and agricultural workers. For those workers, the hourly minimum wage will increase in 2025 and 2026 until reaching N$18 Jan. 1, 2027.
