A Lincoln, Nebraska, local minimum wage proposal that conflicts with the state minimum wage law would be invalid if the city enacts it, according to a May 7 opinion issued by the Nebraska Department of Justice.
Under Nebraska’s minimum wage law, the rate for 2026 is $15 and will annually increase by 1.75% starting in 2027. The state also has a separate youth minimum wage of $13.50 that applies to certain minors.
