Nevada to Phase Out Subminimum Wages for Disabled Workers by 2028

Providers of jobs and day training services in Nevada may not pay subminimum wages to disabled individuals on or after Jan. 1, 2028, under a bill Gov. Joe Lombardo (R) signed June 15.

Jobs and day training services are meant to assist disabled individuals in obtaining competitive integrated employment, achieving independence, and contributing to their communities, under state law.

Current federal and state law allows providers of jobs and day training services to pay subminimum wages to disabled individuals if they were employed on July 22, 2016, and the provider has a federal 14(c) certificate permitting subminimum wages. Providers ...
