New Mexico will require withholding returns to be filed electronically and moved the deadline for quarterly withholding and workers’ compensation fee returns starting in 2026, the state Taxation and Revenue Department said Oct. 9.
The changes were made in H.B. 218, which was signed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) April 9, the department said in a news release. The sections of the bill affecting withholding are sections 63 and 64, which take effect Jan. 1, 2026.
