New Mexico Unemployment-Taxable Wage Base to Rise in 2022 (Correct)

New Mexico’s unemployment-taxable wage base is to increase for 2022, a spokesman for the state Department of Workforce Solutions said Nov. 29.

Effective Jan. 1, 2022, the wage base is to be $28,700, up from $27,000 in 2021, the spokesman told Bloomberg Tax in an email.

New Mexico’s range of unemployment tax rates is not to change for 2022, the spokesman said.

Tax rates for experienced employers that are not assessed an excess claims premium range from 0.33% to 5.4%. The maximum total tax rate for experienced employers that are assessed an excess claims premium is 6.4%.
