New York Extends Income Tax Surcharge for Yonkers

The expiration date for the Yonkers, N.Y., income tax surcharge was extended by the New York legislature to Dec. 31, 2021, from Dec. 31, 2019, in a bill (A. 6694) signed July 3 by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), the state legislature’s website said.

Employers are required to withhold the income tax surcharge from the wages of Yonkers residents, regardless of where work is performed, and from the wages of Yonkers nonresidents for work performed in the city.
