New York farm workers are to receive overtime pay, a weekly day of rest, disability and paid family leave coverage, and unemployment benefits, under a bill signed July 17, 2019, by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).
The measure (A.B. 8419) is to take effect Jan. 1, 2020.
Overtime at a rate of one and one-half a worker’s regular pay rate is to be provided for work hours that exceed 60 hours in a week.
