Bereavement leave because of the death of a family member is to be added to the forms of authorized paid family leave that could be taken starting Jan. 1, 2020 under a measure that passed the legislature June 20 and now must go to Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to sign or veto.
Under the measure (A. 10639-A), employee notice is to be provided as soon as is practicable and a death certificate is to serve as proof of the need for such leave.
