North Carolina Releases 2025 Unemployment Tax Rates, Wage Base

The North Carolina Department of Commerce released its 2025 unemployment insurance information for employers on its website.

Unemployment insurance tax rates for experienced employers in 2025 will range from 0.06% to 5.76%, according to the website.

Employers seeking reduce their tax rate for 2025 have until Jan. 15 to make a voluntary contribution, according to the website. Employers also have until April 30 to protest the department’s tax rate determination.

The tax rate for new employers is 1%, according to the website.

The unemployment-taxable wage base for 2025 is $32,600, up from $31,400 for 2024, according to the website. ...
