Australia’s Northern Territory increased its taxable wage threshold for its payroll tax effective July 1, while also waiving payroll tax in the first half for 2025 for businesses that would be exempt because of the change, under an act that received assent Feb. 18.
The territory’s Payroll Tax Amendment Act 2025 increases its taxable wage threshold to A$2.5 million (US$1,587,650.37) in wages paid in Australia per tax year, up from A$1.5 million.
