The hourly minimum wage in Oakland, California, will rise to $16.89 from $16.50 effective Jan. 1, 2025, according to an update on the city’s website.
Oakland has a separate minimum wage law that applies to employees working at hotels with 50 or more guest rooms or suites. The minimum wage rate will be $24.48, but employers may pay employees $18.36 per hour if they also provide at least $6.12 per hour in health care benefits, according to the city’s hotel worker minimum wage notice.
