Oklahoma Law Sets Worker Classification Criteria for Gig Drivers

Oklahoma established rules for determining whether a driver of a transportation network company is an independent contractor, under a bill that goes into effect on Nov. 1.

Transportation network companies are businesses that use a digital network or software application to connect passengers to services provided by transportation network company drivers, under state law. Excluded from the definition of transportation network companies are taxis, limousines, or other similar motor carrier services.
