Ontario’s standard hourly minimum wage is to increase Oct. 1, the Canadian province’s government said March 31.
The hourly minimum wage is to increase to C$16.55 (US$12.23), up from C$15.50, the government said in a news release. The increase would make Ontario’s minimum wage the highest provincial minimum wage, the government said; however, those for Yukon and employees covered by the Canada Labour Code would still be higher.
The province’s industry-specific minimum wages are to increase as well, the government said. The hourly minimum wage for students is to increase to C$15.60, from C$14.60.
