Philippine Region Increases Minimum Wages

Daily minimum wages in the Philippines region of Central Visayas, also known as Region 7, are to increase, the country’s labor department said Dec. 2.

The daily minimum wages are to rise by eight (U.S. $0.16) to 33 Philippine pesos (U.S. $0.66), the Department of Labor and Employment’s Central Visayas office said in a news release.

In the Philippines, minimum wages generally differ between agricultural and non-agricultural workers, except that Central Visayas non-agricultural employers that have less than 10 employees are now subject to the same minimum wage as agricultural workers, the department said.
