Paid maternity leave in the Philippines was increased to 105 days from 60 days under recent rules issued May 17, 2019, by the Philippines Social Security System.
The rules were effective retroactive to March 11, 2019.
The Expanded Maternity Leave Act, which was signed by Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, applies to government employees and those in the private sector. Employers with up to 10 employees were exempt from the new rules.
