Puerto Rico Clarifies How Employment Laws Apply to Remote Workers

The applicability of Puerto Rico’s employment laws on remote employees generally depends on where they are domiciled, according to a Sept. 10 opinion published by the Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources.

Opinion 2024-02 clarifies Act 27-2024, which addressed how the territory’s employment laws apply to employers that are outside of Puerto Rico but have remote employees performing services in Puerto Rico.
