Puerto Rico Minimum Wage to Rise to $8.50 in 2022

Puerto Rico’s hourly minimum wage is to rise to $8.50 on Jan. 1, 2022, under a bill (P.C. 338) (Spanish) that was signed Sept. 21 by Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia (New Progressive Party), according to a Tweet that was posted to the governor’s official Twitter page.

The minimum wage is to rise again to $9.50 by July 1, 2023, with a final scheduled increase to $10.50 by July 1, 2024, if supported by an independent minimum-wage evaluation committee that is to be composed of economists and worker and employer representatives and tied to Puerto Rico’s labor department. ...
