Puerto Rico’s Legislature to Send Minimum-Wage Bill to Governor

Puerto Rico’s hourly minimum wage would rise to $8.50 on Jan. 1, 2022, under a bill (H.B. 338) that is to be considered by Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia (New Progressive Party), who is supportive (Spanish) of the increase and expected to sign the measure.

The legislature on Aug. 25 approved (Spanish) a committee report that evaluated H.B. 338 and established how a minimum-wage increase is to proceed.
