Rhode Island’s taxation division released its 2026 withholding methods, while a Dec. 15 emergency regulation from the division clarifies how the state’s decoupling from provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (Pub. L. 119-21) affects its income tax for the 2025 tax year.
In the 2026 withholding methods, the amount of annual wages at which the value of a state allowance becomes zero increased to $290,800, from $283,250. The tax brackets in the percentage method were also adjusted.
