Rule to Alter Truckers’ Service Hours Is Under Final Review

A final rule to modify commercial truckers’ driving time and mandatory rest periods was sent to the White House budget office for review, indicating the measure is nearing public release.

The proposed rule (RIN 2126-AC19), which was sent to the Office of Management and Budget by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, would increase allowable on-duty times and distances under the short-haul exception and allow the 14-hour driving period to be paused for a short break.
