The hourly minimum wage for San Mateo County, California, will rise to $17.06 from $16.50 effective Jan. 1, 2024, according to a Sept. 29 county press release.
The county updated its official notice to reflect the increase. The notice, which must be posted where employees can read it, is available in English, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese.
The San Mateo County minimum wage code applies the minimum wage to employees who work at least two hours in unincorporated areas of the county in a week. The county website contains a map showing the unincorporated areas.
