Singapore to Increase Retail Minimum Wages Sept. 1

Singapore’s government will increase minimum wages for the retail industry Sept. 1 after accepting the recommendations of the industry’s representative body, its Ministry of Manpower said Aug. 11.

Increases under the retail industry’s Progressive Wage Model will also take effect on Sept. 1 in 2026 and 2027, the ministry said in a news release. While the minimum wages for all three years were determined at once, the changes taking effect in 2027 can be further reviewed in 2026, the ministry said.

Minimum wages taking effect Sept. 1 are S$2,305 (US$1,790.57) per month, up from S$2,195, for assistants or cashiers; ...
