South Dakota’s 2021 Minimum Wage Poster Confirms 15 Cent Increase

Oct. 5, 2020, 3:10 PM UTC

The South Dakota hourly minimum wage is to rise to $9.45 from $9.30, effective Jan. 1, 2021, according to the 2021 minimum-wage poster that became available Oct. 5 on the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation website.

The minimum hourly cash wage for tipped employees also is to rise to $4.725 from $4.65, the poster said. The 2021 minimum hourly cash wage includes a nonzero number in the thousandths place even though this is rare for U.S. minimum wage amounts.

The increase confirms Bloomberg Tax’s Sept. 15 calculations.
