South Dakota’s hourly minimum wage will rise to $10.80 from $9.95 effective Jan. 1, 2023, according to a Sept. 28 update on the state labor and regulation department’s website.
The announcement confirms Bloomberg Tax’s Sept. 13 projection.
The state’s tipped-employee minimum cash wage and maximum tip credit will each rise to $5.40 from $4.975 in 2023, based on a state requirement that tipped employees be paid a cash wage equal to at least 50% of the state minimum wage.
