Spain Increases Tax-Free Travel Expense Amount

Spain’s allowable tax-free travel expense reimbursement increased effective July 17, an order published in the country’s gazette said.

A reimbursement of 0.26 euros (US$0.29) per kilometer plus tolls and parking costs, up from 0.19 euros per kilometer, can be excluded from income, the order (Spanish) said.

The reimbursement also applies at the same rate when public transit is used, provided that expenses are listed in an invoice or other supporting document, under the Personal Income Tax Regulations (Spanish).

The order took effect upon its publication, it said.
