A total of more than 166 million Forms W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, that were filed electronically for tax year 2020 were processed by Jan. 29, a Social Security Administration official said Feb. 4.
The most common method of filing forms electronically was by uploading files, which accounted for 91.2 million of the processed forms, said Matthew Newton, program manager of the Social Security Administration’s Office of Electronic Services and Technology. The filing deadline was Feb. 1.
Processing of paper Forms W-2 is to start in March, Newton said.
