The Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance taxable wage base is projected to increase in 2022, according to the 2021 OASDI annual report released by its Board of Trustees on Aug. 31.
The projected wage base was calculated using intermediate, high-cost, and low-cost models. The intermediate and high-cost models projected an increase to $146,700, while the low-cost model projected a taxable wage base of $147,300 for 2022.
The wage base, which the Social Security Administration indexes annually to changes in the national average wage, is $142,800 in 2021.
